A Guide to Hermosa Beach Schools

When moving to a new city, finding the right home is paramount, but another one of the most important factors for families is the schools. Parents want to know; which Hermosa Beach school will our children attend? Are they good schools? How and where will we register? Well, let us help you out.

Hermosa Beach Schools

Hermosa Beach is a small city; only 1.43 square miles, so there are only 3 schools within the Hermosa Beach School District: Hermosa View, Vista School, and Hermosa Valley. Hermosa View School is in the section referred to as East Hermosa, just off Prospect Avenue, and is home to students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

Hermosa Valley School is in the section known as Hermosa Valley, located just off Valley Drive and is home to elementary grades 4-5 and middle school grades 6-8. The two groups share school grounds but operate on different schedules and are separate from one another.

Hermosa Beach is a quaint city in many aspects and here, it is common practice for students to walk to school on a regular basis. Therefore, the city provides numerous crossing guards along established routes, creating a safe "walking school bus" environment.

Registration starts with creating your own account on the district website. You will find the necessary forms to fill out, along with a list of required documentation common to all school registration.

There is no high school in Hermosa Beach but both Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach and Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach are very close by and available for your choice according to which academic program will best accommodate the student. Registration for Mira Costa is available on the school’s website and registration for Redondo Union is available on the Redondo Beach School District website.

School boundaries are one of the first things we walk buyers through when they're considering Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, or Redondo Beach. As a licensed real estate broker who's also a licensed general contractor, Levine Homes Real Estate & Construction can help you weigh school access alongside a property's construction quality and renovation potential, so the decision works both in the classroom and at home. Hermosa Beach remains a wonderful place to go to great schools and grow up in the South Bay.
